Comet family of softare proucts was originally developed, starting in early 1990s, by Automated Analysis Corporation, an Ann Arbor, Michigan, engineering service and software company. In 2000, the software division was acquired by Collins and Aikman Corporation. Subsequently, the software unit was acquired by Comet Technology Corporation (CTC) in 2003, which was founded by a key member of the original team that developed Comet acoustic software products. In 2011, ESI Group acquired partial IP of Comet acoustics software (low frequency BEM, etc.) from CTC.
